Listen to Your Body
Another saying I love! It makes sense. Listen to YOUR Body. We are the only ones that really know how our body is feeling after exercise or food. Make note of what makes you feel great. We live in a world of so many conflicting opinions, don’t do this, don’t eat that, etc. It seems there is a war of opinions, egos, diets and information. When we turn it around and starting noticing what makes us feel good, it will reinforce the actions that are right for us.
Just like our fingerprint makes us an individual, it is the same with exercise and food. What works for one person, does not always make it right for another. Listen to your body. Really listen.
For example, I actually do feel better eating carrot sticks, or having a mix of veges and coconut water juiced up. When I am flat, that is works for me as I feel refreshed. But I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. When it comes to exercise I definitely need to listen to my body. If there is pain, I stop. If the wrong muscles start engaging and dominating, I also stop and have a rest.
So have fun making a note of what you are eating and doing for exercise, write down how you feel. So you can work out what really works for your body. Writing what we are eating and doing for exercise makes us accountable, but also keeps us motivated to keep on loving our bodies, with what is right for us as an INDIVIDUAL.
If healthy food like fruit and vege’s are causing you any issues, I recommend consulting with your GP who may refer you to a dietician. I personally have food intolerances, and seeing a dietician has helped so much. To be honest it can be annoying, but when my dietician encouraged me to focus on what made me feel good, it turned the whole thing around. Yes I do love a salad everyday drizzled with olive oil, it makes me feel good inside (of course I love chocolate too).
Also if you are in a class, and an exercise doesn’t feel right, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Exercises can easily be modified or for some people just left out.
Listen to your body, give it the respect and love that it deserves. For all of the interesting fads in regards to diets, exercise etc. Do what works for you! Remember you are an individual. Love your body, it is the MOST amazing thing you will ever OWN. Frances xo
